Chelle has named his 23-man squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
Glamtush reports that Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, on Tuesday, announced his final 23-man squad ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifying fixtures against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
The coach released an expanded provisional squad of 39 players last week.
These will be his debut matches in charge of the three-time African champions.
The squad consists of three goalkeepers, six defenders, six midfielders, and seven forwards, with a mix of experienced names and new faces.
See the full squad list below:
Goalkeepers: Amas Obasogie, Kayode Bankole, Stanley Nwabali.
Defenders: Bright Osayi-Samuel, Bruno Onyemaechi, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, Igoh Ogbu, William Troost-Ekong.
Midfielders: Alex Iwobi, Alhassan Yusuf, Joe Aribo, Papa Daniel Mustapha, Raphael Onyedika, Wilfred Ndidi.
Forwards: Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, Nathan Tella, Sadiq Umar, Samuel Chukwueze, Tolu Arokodare, Victor Boniface, Victor Osimhen.
Musa was one of the surprise inclusions in Chelle’s 39-player provisional list for the World Cup Qualifiers, with fans questioning his call to the team after almost one year of absence.
But in the final list for the games billed for next week, the Malian gaffer, who will be leading the Super Eagles out for the first time, yanked off the Kano Pillars man and Iheanacho of Middlesbrough.
Although Musa was part of the Super Eagles side that went to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire early last, he did not play a minute. Iheanacho also featured in that silver medal-winning team.
