Mbappe has disclosed why Spain beat France 2-0 at the semi-final game of the 2026 World Cup.
Glamtush reports that France captain, Kylian Mbappe, has claimed they didn’t stick to their original game plan, as they lost 2-0 to Spain in the semi-final of the 2026 World Cup.
Les Bleus conceded an early penalty in the first half, which Mikel Oyarzbal smashed in to open the scoring.
After the break, Spain doubled their advantage through a finely worked goal, finished off by Pedro Porro.
Speaking after the match, Mbappe broke down the tactical details that saw Didier Deschamps’ men lose.
He said: “Right from the start, we were pressing three against two… and we messed up there. Against Spain, you have to press man for man.
“We didn’t activate the game plan. When you don’t do what you’re supposed to do in a World Cup semifinal… you don’t win.
“We did not do what it takes to reach the dream, to reach the World Cup final.”
