1. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested two suspected drug kingpins at Port Harcourt International Airport and Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, who excreted a total of 125 wraps of heroin. NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Sunday, revealing that one of the suspects, Onyekwonike Elochuckwu Sylvanus, operates under dual identities to evade detection.

2. Many suspected terrorists hibernating in Zamfara State have been killed and their enclaves destroyed by troops. This is part of the ongoing clearance operations in the Northwest region. The troops also captured Tungan Fulani Hills, a notorious haven for terrorists in the Northwest state, Security analyst Zagazola Makama posted on his verified X handle.

3. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has warned the federal government that the $1.07 billion allocated to the health sector in the 2025 budget should not be misused. Atiku in a statement in Abuja asked that mechanisms must be put in place to ensure the funds are used to improve healthcare services rather than vanish under suspicious circumstances.

4. A violent clash between two rival cult groups in the Wadata area of Makurdi metropolis in Benue State has reportedly left four persons dead with several others sustaining gunshot and axe injuries. Witnesses said the fracas, which took place on Sunday morning allegedly between members of the Red and Black cult groups, was for the control of the area.

5. Shafi’u Bawa, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, attached to 61 Police Mobile Force, Kontagora, Headquarters of Kontagora LGA of Niger state, has reportedly committed suicide. A police officer confided in Daily Trust that the deceased allegedly committed suicide on Saturday afternoon.

6. An explosion has burnt down vehicles and other goods including foodstuff in Sabon Wuse, Tafa Local Government Area, LGA of Niger State. It was gathered that the blast happened when a tanker was offloading gas at a gas filling station in the area.

7. Human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana, has filed a $5 million suit before a Lagos High Court against the United States of America-based organisation, Meta Platforms Inc., over an alleged invasion of his privacy. Falana, through his lawyer, Olumide Babalola, accused Meta of publishing motion images and voice captioned, “AfriCare Health Center,” on their website to the effect that he suffered a disease known as ‘Prostatitis’.

8. Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria, PETROAN, said it is currently awaiting the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, to open its portal to enable it lift petroleum products from Warri refinery. the President of PEROAN, Dr. Billy Gillis-Harris stated this in an interview on Sunday.

9. The President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, Igboayaka IIgboayaka, has been abducted by gunmen. He was reportedly kidnapped on Saturday evening at Work Layout, near IMSU junction, Owerri, Imo state capital. The president of Igbo National Council, INC, Chilos Godsent, in a statement, disclosed that the gunmen arrived at the scene in a Sienna and a Lexus SUV.

10. No fewer than 19 persons were feared killed, on Sunday, after cultists clashed in Obelle Community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, forcing residents to flee the troubled community for safety. The community was still lamenting the last Wednesday mayhem when two rival cult groups in the area resumed their battle for supremacy after more than two years of hibernation.
