Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency seized no fewer than 286 assets and 600 bank accounts of drug barons between January 2021 and August 2022. NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, who disclosed this in a document made available on Tuesday, said the assets consisted of 249 exotic cars and 37 mansions.

2. Ahead of the meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party National Executive Committee scheduled for Thursday in Abuja, the NEC members are divided over the clamour for the removal of the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu. The meeting is targeted at finding a solution to the crisis rocking the party.

3. The families of four newborn babies have been thrown into mourning after they died due to alleged negligence on the part of the doctor on duty at the Sapele Central Hospital, in the Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State. The victims’ families, while lamenting over their deaths, alleged that the doctor on duty was drunk.

4. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has dissolved the corps’ anti-vandalism units nationwide. The Commandant, Ahmed Audi who gave the dissolution order during a meeting with senior officers yesterday, said the action was sequel to insinuations and reports in the public domain that security operatives were likely involved in oil theft.

5. President Muhammadu Buhari has set up a committee to look into the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). At a meeting with Pro chancellors and Vice Chancellors in Abuja on Tuesday, Malam Adamu Adamu, Minister of Education, announced that the committee was set up to revisit the issue.

6. Governor Nyesom Wike says Rivers State under Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rule has learnt enough bitter lessons from showing commitment to garner highest presidential votes to the party during elections and end up not being appreciated for their efforts.

7. Fifteen suspected trafficked children have been rescued by operatives of the Rivers State Police Command from the residence of one Maureen Wechinwu, who claimed to be a Reverend Sister, in Aluu Community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State.

8. No fewer than 30 suspects have been arrested in connection with the weekend bloody rival cult clash that claimed three lives and left several others injured in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State. The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Catherine Anene, who made the disclosure, yesterday, in Makurdi, said investigation into the matter was ongoing.

9. The Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Alhaji Yabagi Sani, has said that he is not sure if ministers are telling President Muhammadu Buhari the truth on the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). ASUU has been on strike for seven months.

10. Chelsea have started their UEFA Champions League campaign on a poor note as Dinamo Zagreb held on to a slim 1-0 victory on Tuesday night. Thomas Tuchel fielded new signing Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in the starting line-up but the Gabonese and his teammates could not do enough to see the Blues avert defeat at the Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb.
