The national chairman of the people Democratic Party, Iyorchai Ayu is currently in the face of the storm following the outcome of the party’s presidential primary election that produced Atiku Abubakar as the candidate and the vice president candidate deliberations that saw Ifeanyi Okowa as the chosen one.
News reports earlier this morning revealed that about 11 governors in the party have threatened to boycott Osun governorship election mega campaign if the national Chairman doesn’t step down.
The governors are accusing the chairman of going against the rule of zoning in the party by ensuring the presidency goes to the north and choosing Ifeanyi Okowa as running mate against Nyesom Wike who was promised the VP slot when he lost the presidential primaries.
Meanwhile, Primate Ayodele had warned in May 2022 after the national chairman emerged that there will be a gang-up against him by the governors in the party. He stated that they will want to reduce him to nothing as they did to the other chairman but in another dimension.
These were his words, “Some governors want to break the PDP, the party must be careful of the faction because it will lead the party to loss. There are cabals in the PDP too and they will lead the party to a crisis.
“The national chairman will want to make efforts but the cabals will frustrate him. They will blackmail him and want to reduce him to nothing as they did to Uche Secondus but in another dimension. With the happenings in the PDP especially after the national convention, it is obvious that the prophecy of the man of God is becoming a reality. One thing to note about his word is that the efforts of the chairman will not be appreciated in the party. Considering the threats made against the party and the chairman lately, it’s clear that the efforts of the chairman isn’t appreciated, confirming Primate Ayodele’s prophecy.
