Popular Kaduna clergyman, Rev. Azzaman has died in car accident.

Glamtush reports that Rev. Azzaman, the leading pastor of The King Worship Chapel and Ministry, Inc. in Kaduna, Kaduna State, was reported to have died on Saturday after a ghastly motor accident on his way back to Kaduna from Makurdi, Benue State.

His death has stirred not only grief but also renewed attention to the dangers faced by travellers on Nigeria’s highways.

A source close to the family, Rev. Mohammed Mohammed, confirmed the death in a post on Facebook: “REV Azzaman Azzaman had an accident on his way back from Makurdi. He died alone in the car. May he rest in peace. May the Lord comfort us in the name of Jesus.”

Rev. Azzaman was a well-known figure on social media, where he engaged in frequent interfaith discussions and theological debates. His online presence, particularly on Facebook, earned him a devoted following among young Christians and religious thinkers.

The late cleric had reportedly been in Makurdi for several days of evangelical outreach. While the specific circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear, his death has reignited concern over the conditions of Nigerian roads and the frequency of accidents involving religious leaders and other public figures in transit.

As tributes continue to pour in, many of his followers have described him not only as a preacher but as a fearless teacher and intellectual voice in the Christian community.

“A great soldier of the Lord takes a bow and goes home to wear his crown of glory after having fought a good fight of faith!” wrote Mustapha Mushas on Facebook.
Another commenter added, “This is a huge loss to the body of Christ. Rev. Azzaman stood firm in the face of opposition and taught us how to engage with truth and grace.”

On X, @ZariyiYusufu wrote: “Our brother, friend and soldier in the vineyard of our Master, Azzaman Azzaman, @dayuba, has gone to be with the LORD :broken_heart:. He died last night in an accident on his way from Makurdi to Kaduna, his base. He was in Makurdi for days of evangelical outreach.”

Known for his unapologetic style and firm grasp of scripture, Rev. Azzaman frequently debated Muslim scholars and secular thinkers, often drawing both admiration and criticism. Many remember him for his ability to frame complex theological issues in accessible language and for his willingness to engage with opposing views in the public square.

“He wasn’t just a debater. He was a teacher and a man of deep conviction,” one commenter noted.

Rev. Azzaman, who rose to national prominence not through traditional church platforms but through his digital engagements, leaves behind his wife and children. Funeral arrangements have not yet been formally announced.

May his soul rest in peace!
