An Ekiti lady has begun 120 hours cook-a-thon to break Guinness records and Nigerians react.
Glamtush reports that a chef identified as Damilola Adeparusi has begun 120 hours cooking marathon in Oye Local Government Area in Ekiti State.
This is coming barely a few weeks after chef Hilda Baci completed her cook-a-thon monitored by Guinness World Records in 100 hours.
Adeparusi became a cynosure in a viral video after she reportedly completed over 31 hours of the 120 hours earmarked for the cooking.
The Oye-based lady is currently greeted by friends and well-wishers who are tasting the different meals cooked.
Recall that after Hilda Baci’s certification, she will be displacing the current world record holder, Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who achieved the feat in 2019 with 87 hours 45 minutes record uninterrupted cooking.
Meanwhile, some internet users frowned at the action of Adeparusi tagging it as sabotage of the achievement of a fellow countrywoman.
A user, Victoria George said, “Hilda has not broken the Guinness World Records, you have started your own.”
Another user, Adesoji Agboola said, “Unemployment na bad thing oo. This is what happens when you associate unnecessary publicity and give unnecessary credence to issues that aren’t relevant.”
Abubakar Yakubu stressed, “Kontinue! absolutely no initiative, only waiting for someone to start something and then others will join. National sibling rivalry?
Mochainaxxx tweeted, “This is 100% unnecessary.. other Nigerians are praying and hoping Hilda gets in the record book and another one just want to interfere with her success .. Nawa oo.”
“Everybody wan blow. Why must it be this same record of Hilda Baci? Why can’t she try other fields? Even Hilda is yet to receive her own certificate. Haba,” Chris Henry wrote.
“So who are the spectators?,” Michael Nungo queried.
Ikechukwu Esinwoke said, “Can’t you wait for at least 1 year before you do this rubbish? Na waooo for Naija people.”
A verified user, Chinenye Azubuike, opined, “Will she meet the criteria? It’s not only about cooking. She has to cook with the less privileged and also feeds the special people while standing to cook.
“Did she write to GWR? Where are the judges from GWR? Did she do the 24hrs trial and sent it to GWR? Lots of rules are attached.
“I wish her all the best even though I know she won’t make it cos her eyes are already showing weakness.
“Meanwhile where are that Liberian man and the Kenyan woman that wanted to break the record after Hilda? The pots and plating are even disturbing my eyes talk less of the eyes of GWR,” she added.
@Detolah wrote, “Naija sha!!!! I think most of these people suddenly resurrecting are envious and annoying. This is why you need to hide your successes from people, they will go ahead and try to steal it from you. At least let Hilda get award first, Make breeze blow on it. Chef gbigbeyiyan.”
“This thing no be competition na…why are some of us so envious of other people….chai,” professorudeme wrote.
SEOtuas tweeted, “This is too bad. Why not wait after she is crowned u can start urs?”
“Hope they don’t run out of cooking gas.. anyway let’s see how it will end,” ArrabBucknor said.
ShwagDr said, “Nigerian women don’t like themselves that much. Forget all the bomboclat y’all see on y’all TL. Everyone of them want to be the only woman in the world,”
Notwithstanding, some netizens wished Adeparusi well in her quest. Womi Odd said, “Good luck, go girl.”
Ade Ayemi said, “Best of luck. Let’s break the record. Make sure you invite Guinness before you proceed.”
“Best of luck dear. This is Nigeria and “overtaking” is allowed,” Odom Oluchukwu wrote.
