1. President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to calls by the Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF) to resign due to insecurity in Nigeria. His spokesman, Garba Shehu, said the president does not wish to be drawn into the high-decibel show in the media, adding that the resignation call “is not a solution to the security problems facing the country.”

2. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has given the federal government a 21-day ultimatum to resolve the issues with members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU), and National Association of Academic Technologist (NAAT). This was contained in a communique released on Wednesday and jointly signed by NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, and the congress’ General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja.

3. Gunmen, Wednesday morning, attacked a police station in Atani, the headquarters of Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State. A source told DAILY POST that the men arrived in the area at about 1:30 am on Wednesday and immediately launched an attack on the police facility, during which four policemen, including a female police operative, lost their lives.

4. No fewer than four students of the College of Science and Health Technology in Tsafe, Zamfara State, were kidnapped by suspected terrorists on Wednesday. DAILY POST gathered that the kidnappers, who invaded the College and abducted the female students, have already made contact with the families of their victims, demanding an undisclosed amount as ransom.

5. The Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, on Wednesday, disclosed that Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late gospel artiste, Osinachi, is married to another woman. Tallen disclosed this while appearing on NTA’s Good Morning Nigeria’s breakfast show. According to the minister, Osinachi’s children disclosed that their mother had no bank account because their father usurped all her proceeds.

6. A member of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Gagdi, has disclosed that the Department of State Services (DSS) got intelligence on the location of the terrorists that killed about 100 persons in Plateau State. Gagdi stated this on Wednesday while moving a motion on the recent killings in the State.

7. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says Nigeria needs him in 2023. The frontline APC presidential aspirant said this at a forum organized by the Lagos State House of Assembly on Wednesday.

8. The Federal Government has said preliminary reports on the Abuja-Kaduna train terror attack have revealed the impact of collaboration between the bandits and dislodged Boko Haram terrorists from the North East. The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, said this Wednesday while fielding questions from State House reporters after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

9. Simon Harry, Nigeria’s Statistician-General, has passed away. The official, who died on Wednesday morning in Abuja, the nation’s capital, was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in August 2021.

10. Liverpool and Manchester City became the latest teams to qualify for the Champions League semi-final stage on Wednesday night after beating Benfica and Atletico Madrid, respectively, in the quarter-final. Both Premier League giants now join Villarreal and Real Madrid in the last-4. Liverpool will face Villarreal, while Real Madrid will tackle Manchester City.
