A missing UNIJOS female student has been found dead in a hotel, parts missing.

Glamtush reports that the mutilated remains of an undergraduate of the University of Jos, Jenifer Anthony, have been recovered from the Domus Pacis Guest House, in the Jos area of Plateau State.

Until Anthony’s death, she was reportedly last seen with her boyfriend, Moses Oche, who allegedly picked her up around St. Morumba School, along Zaria Road, Jos.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Anthony departed her parents’ house in Abuja for Jos on New Year’s Eve.

On getting to Jos, the undergraduate informed her friend, Jessica Dung, that she was going to apply for a job at the Varlaine Club, around the Ray Field area of Jos.

Speaking with our correspondent on Thursday, Dung said Anthony’s whereabouts became unknown after she left to apply for the job.

She said, “After she left to submit the application, we didn’t hear from her again. So, on January 1, 2022, we called her phone number in the morning and it went through, but she did not pick and later it was switched off.

“We kept searching for her and continued posting that she was missing on a social media group she created for her business. I was also posting on my WhatsApp status and my number was attached to the posts.

“So, someone called to inform us that he was the one that was supposed to convey her to the Varlaine Club, but that she did not go there. He said Anthony told him that her boyfriend had booked a room for her at a hotel and told him to drop her off around St. Morumba School.

“When they got there, she called her boyfriend and he came to pick her. The next day, the guy said he tried her number and it was picked, but the person that picked the call said nothing. The number was later switched off.”

As efforts were intensified to locate Anthony’s whereabouts, Dung said a lady called her on January 4, 2022, to say the police had found a corpse in a hotel.

The lady was said to have advised Dung to check with the police to see if the recovered corpse was that of her friend.

Dung added, “When we got to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department on January 5, we saw her belongings and confirmed it was her corpse. Her eyes were already plucked out and I was shocked.

“The receptionist of the Domus Pacis Guest House told the police that the name of the person that checked into the hotel was Moses Oche, and we know her boyfriend bears Moses.

“The receptionist also told the police that he was the only one on duty on that day and that when Moses dropped the key to his room and was about leaving the hotel, he told him to wait so he could confirm if everything was in order in the room.

“But when he (receptionist) got into the room and discovered Anthony’s corpse, he quickly returned to the reception only to realise that Moses had fled. The police showed the receptionist a trending video clip and he confirmed Moses’ identity in it. It was after his identity was confirmed that we posted the video clip online.”

Dung said Anthony was a 300-level undergraduate of Special Education and Rehabilitation in the Faculty of Education, University of Jos.

She stated that the deceased’s father had been contacted, adding that he was on his way to Jos over the incident.

A spokesperson for the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ubah Ogaba, said efforts were on to arrest Oche.

He said, “The Commissioner of Police has directed discreet investigation into the case. He has also held an emergency meeting with all hoteliers and given them security tips on how to man their hotels to avoid a recurrence of such ugly incidents.  We are making progress as investigation is still ongoing.”
