Gunmen Kidnap Rivers Traditional Ruler, UNIPORT Lecturer, Others
The Chairman of Andoni Area Traditional Rulers Council, HRM King Dr. Aaron .M. Ikuru has been kidnaped by unknown gunmen from his residence on Sunday night.
The monarch’s palace spokesperson, Maurice Ikuru confirmed the incident.
“Yes, it’s true. It happened about 8:30 or 9 pm,” Ikuru stated on Monday morning.

However, the gunmen also kidnapped some boat travellers, including a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, Dr Jones Ayuwo, who were returning to Port Harcourt from Andoni.
Ayuwo of the department of Linguistics and Communications Studies in UNIPORT was abducted on Sunday night along the Andoni-Ogoni road while returning from the Local Government Area of Andoni after a function by his Local Language Bible Translation committee which he serves as the secretary.
Three journalists with the Rivers State Government-owned Television who went for the coverage of the event were also attacked with their valuables and camera were taken from them.

The spokesperson of the University of Port Harcourt, Samuel Kpenu who confirmed the abduction said no contact has been made with the family or the institution.
The spokesman of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident but was yet to get their identities.
“I can confirm that some persons who were coming back from Andoni were ambushed and kidnapped. Investigation is on-going to get the details,” Omoni stated.
