The full list of award winners at the just concluded WAFCON 2026 has been released.
Glamtush reports that it was a historic night for the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon as they won their first-ever Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Rabat on Sunday.
They defeated debutants Malawi 3-0, courtesy of a brace from Ngah Manga and another goal from 21-year-old midfielder Naomi Eto.
Cameroon, who had previously lost four WAFCON finals — 1991, 2004, 2014 and 2016 — became the fourth nation to win the continental title after Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and South Africa.
Although the Malawi didn’t win the tournament, the team, however, qualified for their first-ever World Cup and reached their first-ever WAFCON final.
The champions will join Malawi, Algeria and Morocco at the 2027 Women’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
