Bigi premium table water provided moments of refreshment and hydration for runners, sports lovers, guests, and indigenes at the Abeokuta 10km road race, held on Saturday, November 13, at the ancient city.

The truly world-class and proudly Nigerian brand is the headline sponsor of the Abeokuta 10km road race tagged Naija, Race for Homeland, organized by Nilayo Sports Management Limited (NSML).

The premium Bigi table water provided water points at intervals during the 10km road race. As such, there were surplus bottles of the fantastically refreshing table water for the road for all runners, guests and indigenes who flooded the ancient city to experience the fun.

When people run, they generate 20 times more heat than when they are at rest. The Bigi water helped minimize the heat as it provided adequate hydration for the runners which improved recovery, minimized injury and cramping and maximized performance during the race. The proper hydration provided by Bigi water ensured the safe arrival of all the runners at the finish point, thereby preventing heat strokes and any casualty during the race.

Ismael Sadjo, winner of the grand prize of Two Thousand Dollars in the male category applauded Bigi for making his victory easy. “Bigi water is the best drinking water,” he said. Sadjo further revealed that the refreshing nature of the water helped stabilize his heartbeat during the race and gave him more energy to finish strong.

Boluwatife Adedugbe, Brand Manager, Beverage and Bakery, Rite Foods Limited said that her company wants to ensure that every consumer out there gets a feel of the fantastically refreshing array of brands in its portfolio, thereby giving consumers the opportunity to associate with the brand and find a flavor that resonates with their personality in any occasion.

According to her, “when you have a proudly Nigerian company supporting a ‘Naija, Race for Homeland’ sporting event, it means that there is an alignment between the company and its vision for sports development in the country.” This is the reason why the brand is consistently and consciously supporting youths through sporting events such as the Bigi Abeokuta 10km road race.

On the company’s commitment to the growth of sports in the state, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Dr. Kehinde Oluwadare, eulogized Rite Foods for its weight behind the sporting event, which he said is another golden opportunity for Nigerian youths to earn global recognition.

He expressed Governor Dapo Abiodun’s appreciation to Rite Foods for creating a platform of social value that would build talents, engage the youths and spur them to greatness.

Stephen Joseph from Plateau State emerged second with a finishing time of 31:47:82, coming closely behind Sadjo with 31:03:81. He took home the sum of One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars. Emmanuel Gyang emerged third at the arrival of 32:15:00 and won the sum of One Thousand Dollars.

In the female category, Rose Akusho came first at the arrival of 36:33:30, followed by Vera Yohanna at arrival of 37:10:17 while Patience Dalyop emerged third at the arrival of 37:4:02. Allfemale winners are from Plateau State.

The brand which stormed the market in an aggressive, bullish, and dominant way has remained relevant by tying its initiatives to consumer-centric activations that make an impact and create refreshing experiences for consumers.

The Bigi Abeokuta 10km race is a race for Nigerians aimed at discovering and nurturing young talents. As a proudly Nigerian brand, Bigi has again demonstrated its commitment to partner with platforms and explore different touchpoints that align with consumers across the country.
