Benefits Of Drinking Water On An Empty Stomach In The Morning

Water is essential to life, and our body needs it for the normal and smooth functioning of all the organs. But, most times, we drink water only when we are thirsty, after eating something hot and spicy or after a meal. However, that should not be the case.

On a normal day, drinking water has a lot of health benefits especially in this period of coronavirus when we are advised to drink water every 15 minutes. However, it’s even better to drink water on an empty stomach in the morning.

As we know the human body is composed of about 60% of water, so it’s important to keep it fresh and topped up to keep the body working properly and keep at bay different kinds of health issues. Also, the benefits of drinking are undeniable for our good health.

However, have you heard about water therapy also known as Japanese water therapy? It’s a water therapy that involves drinking several glasses of water every morning immediately you wake up on an empty stomach before any other thing enters into your mouth to cleanse your system and keep you energized the whole day. Drinking water after you wake up in the morning is absolutely refreshing and will make you feel good.

In fact, taking water will rejuvenate your health in so many ways than you can imagine. Since our body loses water regularly, we need to compensate for these losses to avoid dehydration.

You should have it at the back of your mind that being dehydrated for a long time can lead to numerous health problems like rheumatoid arthritis, migraines, dyspepsia, hypertension, obesity, hemorrhoids, pulmonary tuberculosis, kidney stones, and many more health problems.

That’s the reason you should make it a point of duty to help your body to avoid different unseen health conditions by drinking water after waking up not just to quench thirst but also to keep your body hydrated and impacts on your overall wellbeing throughout the day.

How to get started

Drink four glasses of water immediately you wake up in the morning, before brushing your teeth, and on an empty stomach. If you are unable to drink all four glasses of water in one go, you should wait for a couple of minutes between each glass of water so as to give your stomach a break.

Alternatively, if you find it difficult to start with four glasses, you should start with one and gradually increase the amount over time.

After drinking the glasses of water, do not eat anything for the next 45 minutes.

After 45 minutes, you may eat and drink as normal.

Then, you should not eat or drink anything for 2 hours after breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Finally, drink more water throughout the day.

For the water therapy to be effective, it is advisable not to add anything to the water like lemon, vinegar, or ginger. Also, you can drink your morning water normal or warm depending on what you are comfortable with.
