On Thursday, March 30, Mavin Records held its second edition of the Mavin Women’s Day Soiree at the Carnival Restaurant in Victoria Island. The all-female event was hosted by Bamidele Vivian Osagie aka Vien007 and had in attendance women from across the entertainment industry.

Speaking about the initiative, Emmanuella Nnadozie, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Mavin Records, said  “Women are beginning to rise and to dominate, creating a big impact on their lives as well as the industry they find themselves in. We  are proud to celebrate the  women making a difference in the entertainment sector, and  we remain committed to promoting their unity, while also giving them a chance to advance their careers.”

At the event, guests enjoyed exciting performances by Mavin acts as well as thought-provoking fireside chats by female executives in various capacities across the entertainment landscape, including Susan Anisa Younis, Bimbo Babatola, Bella Adeleke, Sasha P, Director of Finance at Mavin Records, Ifeoma Okonkwo and Spotify’s Artist & Label Partnerships Manager, East Africa, Monica Kemoli-Savanne. The chat session included an exploration of the importance of innovation and technology in the music business.

Just after the insightful fireside chats, Monica presented a masterclass on the different innovative creator programmes and tools that can be leveraged by up-and-coming artists to turn their passion into a profession, such as Spotify for Artists.

Commenting on the collaboration, Monica said “We support gender equality in the entertainment space, and we are committed to creating and providing initiatives and tools on our platform that allow us to amplify the work of female creators.”

The event ended with another highlight as talented Afro-Pop artists, Magixx and Crayon as well as emerging Nigerian singer, Qing Madi, stormed the stage and thrilled the audience with their music, enthralling the crowd with some of their hit songs. Carnival dancers, an all-female dance crew, treated attendees to a dance performance that left people wanting more.
