1. Several persons are feared dead and many others injured after suspected armed herdsmen launched a fresh attack on the Makurdi–Naka road. Sources informed our reporter that the attackers struck on Friday evening along the troubled axis, leaving commuters stranded.

In a statement signed by Archbishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, President of the CBCN and Archbishop of Owerri, the bishops, while condemned the continued killings in Benue State, expressed ‘heavy hearts and deep anguish’ over what they described as ‘utterly barbaric’ attacks on defenceless communities in Benue.

With hearts heavy yet full of gratitude to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Justice Mohammed Lawal Uwais, former Chief Justice of the Federation.”
