1. The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives on Wednesday called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to either refocus governance in tackling national security challenges and economic hardship or step aside, warning that Nigeria is facing what it described as deepening insecurity, judicial controversy, and democratic backsliding ahead of the 2027 elections.
2. Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has described the party’s newly introduced indemnity form against defection as a welcome development that reinforces constitutional provisions on party supremacy. Speaking through the Kwankwasiyya spokesperson, Habibu Saleh Mohammed, Kwankwaso said the initiative was in line with the Nigerian Constitution.

Gunmen on Tuesday killed the District Head of Gwande in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, Saf Samuel Alaket, in an ambush attack along the Sha District axis bordering the Daffo community. Sources in the area said the incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m., while the traditional ruler was returning home after attending traditional council meeting in Bokkos.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed the Katsina State Police Command to intensify security around schools across the state as part of efforts to safeguard students, teachers and educational facilities from security threats. The directive was delivered by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of Finance and Administration, Sulaiman Abdul, during a two-day operational visit to Katsina State.
