Three Arraigned For Robbing Osun Federal Lawmaker
Three men were on Tuesday remanded in the Ilesa Custodial Centre in Osun State over an alleged attack on the residence and farm of the lawmaker representing Osun West in the Senate, Mr Adelere Oriolowo.
The defendants, Muslim Saheed, 38; Kazeem Ganiyu, 43; and Olaleye Olawale, 23 appeared before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo over allegations of conspiracy and robbery.
According to the details of the charges against the defendants, the three men and others at large on Saturday, October 24, attacked Orilowo’s farm and residence in Iwo and carted away electrical appliances.
The defendants, who were alleged to be armed, allegedly carted away mattresses, kitchen utensils, agro-allied materials, imported chemicals, dresses, cable network decoders, deep freezers, milk and rice processing machines and tiling machines.
The prosecutor, John Idoko, said the offences were contrary to and punishable under Section 1(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap. RII Vol. 14 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The pleas of the defendants were not taken owing to the nature of the offence.
The Magistrate, Modupe Awodele, ordered that the matter be transferred to the Iwo Magisterial District.
She remanded the defendants in the Ilesha Custodial Centre and adjourned the matter till November 4.
