Ronaldo has signed a €200m deal with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
Glamtush reports that Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo on Friday joined Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr on a two-year contract in a deal worth €200m per year with commercial benefits included.
The 37-year-old penned a contract that will take him to June 2025 after leaving Manchester United following a controversial interview in which he criticized the club.
Earlier in November, Ronaldo spoke out in an interview with Piers Morgan for TalkTV in which he said he felt “betrayed” by United, did not respect manager Erik ten Hag and was being forced out of the club.
Ronaldo, who scored 145 goals in 346 appearances for United, left Juventus to rejoin the Old Trafford club in August 2021 — 11 years after he departed to join Real Madrid.
He had just over seven months remaining on his £500,000-a-week contract with United but his immediate exit was “mutually agreed.”
“This is more than history in the making,” the club wrote on Instagram late Friday while confirming the deal.
“This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation, and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves. Welcome @cristiano to your new home @alnassr_fc.”
“I can’t wait to discover a new football league in a different country,” said the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus player.
The Portuguese star was pictured on the Al Nassr Twitter feed holding a blue and yellow shirt with his favoured number seven printed on the back.
