Oshoala, Ajibade and three other Falcons stars have been listed for CAF award.

Glamtush reports that Super Falcons quintet Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, Uchenna Kanu, Monday Gift and Chiamaka Nnadozie have been shortlisted for this CAF award.

According to PUNCH Sports Extra, Oshoala, Ajibade, Kanu and Nnadozie were listed for the Women’s Player of The Year award, while Monday made the shortlist in two categories – the Best Young Player of The Year, alongside Flourish Sebastien of Edo Queens, and the Best Interclub Player on the continent, with Maryann Ezenagu of Rivers Angels also a nominee.

Monday was named Player of The Season in the Nigerian topflight and was also top scorer last term. She was instrumental to Bayelsa Queens’ league triumph and their qualification for the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League.

The list for the Women’s Player of The Year is made up of 30 women from 12 countries and has South Africa leading the pack with six players.

Thembi Kgatlana, 2018 winner of the award, leads the Banyana Banyana stars alongside Refiloe Jane, Linda Motlhalo, Andile Dlamini, Bambanani Mebane and Jermaine Seoposenwe.

Other players shortlisted for the award are Botswana trio Lesege Radakanyo, Refilwe Tholakele and Rukiya Bizmana, as well as Cameroonian quartet Ajara Njoya, Gabreille Ouguene, Jeanette Yango and Rose Bella.

Oshoala won the award for a fourth time in 2019 – equaling the record of fellow Nigerian Perpetua Nkwocha.

For the women’s Club of The Year award, Rivers Angels made the list of seven nominees, alongside Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, Ghana’s Hasaacas, AS FAR of Morocco, Malabo Kings of Equatorial Guinea, Egypt’s Wadi Degla and AS Mande of Mali.

The 2022 CAF awards will be held July 21 in Rabat, Morocco.
