The trio of Linda Ejiofor, Bucci Franklin, and Uzor Arukwe shone at the AMVCA 2026.
Glamtush reports that actress Linda Ejiofor stole the spotlight with her double win as Best Lead Actress for her role in the movie, The Serpent’s Gift, and as Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie, The Herd, at the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards on Saturday at the Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Meanwhile, actor Uzor Arukwe won the award for Best Lead Actor for his role in the movie Colours of Fire.
Actor Bucci Franklin made the crowd go wild for his anticipated win as Best Supporting Actor for his role in To Kill a Monkey, defeating screen giants including Femi Adebayo (Agesinkole 2), Gabriel Afolayan (Colours of Fire), Uzor Arukwe (Behind the Scenes), and Lateef Adedimeji (Red Circle).
The movie, My Father’s Shadow, won the award for Best Movie.
Unlike what many expected, popular actress, Funke Akindele, went home with no win despite her movie, Behind the Scenes, being nominated in four categories.
Akindele’s movie, which grossed over N2bn at the cinemas, was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Lead Actress and Best Movie categories.
Other notable awards included the Industry Merit Award, which was clinched by notable actor Kanayo O. Kanayo and actress Sola Sobowale. Actress Uche Montana also won the prestigious Trailblazer Award at the event. Popular makeup artist Hakeem Onilogbo (Hakeem Effect), bagged the win for the best makeup, while Lisabi (A Legend is Born) by Lateef Adedimeji won the award for Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa), and Leave To Live – Emmanuel Kanaga & Sophia Chisom clinched the award for best digital content creator, amongst others.
Organised annually, AMVCA celebrates excellence in African film, television, and digital content while recognizing actors, filmmakers, producers, and other creative professionals who have contributed significantly to the growth of the entertainment industry across the continent.
The glamorous ceremony brought together top stars from different parts of Africa, with fashion, music, and outstanding cinematic achievements taking centre stage.
