Nigerian actress, model, and television host Kehinde Bankole is on a roll. Her name has become synonymous with Nigerian entertainment.

The actress who has graced numerous magazine covers has carved a niche for herself with her captivating performances and undeniable talent.

This year marks a particularly momentous year for Bankole as just days ago, she took home the coveted Best Actress award at the 2024 African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), receiving a standing ovation for her performance. This prestigious award is a fitting recognition of Bankole’s commitment to excellence and her ability to consistently deliver unforgettable performances.

This win is also a testament to Bankole’s talent and dedication, a career that began not on the silver screen, but on a pageant stage. Bankole’s journey began with beauty pageants, contesting in Miss Commonwealth Nigeria 2003 and MBGN 2004. But her true calling was on the stage and screen. She made her acting debut in the popular family drama, “Super Story,” playing the character of Caro. This marked the beginning of a prolific career that would see her grace both television and film.

Born in Ogun State, Nigeria, Kehinde Bankole grew up in a supportive family that encouraged her artistic inclinations. She pursued her education at Olabisi Onabanjo University, where she studied Mass Communication. Her academic background laid a solid foundation for her future endeavors in media and entertainment.

Bankole’s artistic inclinations were nurtured from a young age. Her acting debut came in 2007 with the popular family drama “Super Story,” a testament to the versatility she would showcase throughout her career. From Wale Adenuga productions like “Papa Ajasco” and “This Life” to starring as housewife Kiki Obi in the Nigerian adaptation of “Desperate Housewives Africa,” Bankole never shied away from diverse roles.

Bankole has also showcased her range in critically acclaimed movies like “October 1,” “The Perfect Picture: Ten Years Later,” “Prophetess,” “Sista,” “Adire,” and the latest movie she featured in titled “Olufumilayo Ransome Kuti.”

Her talents extend beyond acting. She has graced television screens as a host, captivating audiences with her charisma in shows like “The African Kitchen” and “The Soul Sisters Show,” which she also produced. She’s even brought her artistic flair to the stage, performing in the Yoruba-language play “Itan Ogunnintin” at the prestigious Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, lent her voice to characters in Disney original series, and captivated audiences in blockbuster films and on streaming giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Her dedication to her craft was recognized in 2009 when she received the Revelation of the Year award at the Best of Nollywood Awards (BON).

Kehinde Bankole’s story is one of dedication, talent, and an unwavering passion for the arts. From her early days in “Super Story” to her AMVCA win, she has proven herself to be a force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian and global entertainment scene. The recent AMVCA win is a significant milestone for Bankole.
