Edo 2020: Godwin Obaseki Receives Certificate Of Return From INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented a certificate of return to Governor Godwin Obaseki, winner of the just concluded Edo State governorship election and his deputy, Phillip Shaibu.
INEC National Commissioner supervising Edo, Rivers, and Bayelsa, Mrs. May Agbmuche-Mbu made the presentation on Tuesday at the INEC office in Aduwawa, Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Obaseki, in his press briefing after being presented the certificate of return by the INEC, extended a hand of fellowship to the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the former chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

According to Vanguard, Obaseki, in his address said; “on a special note, I want to use this occasion to call on the former chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomhole, that, the fight is over.” He beckoned on the former governor of the state to “come and join in building the house, where he was part of laying the foundation”.
He added, “We have no malice. The only thing we disagree on is on the approach in moving Edo forward.” The governor also called on his strongest opponent in the election, Pastor Ize-Iyamu of the APC, saying; “we are one family in the pursuit to provide services and public vote for our citizens.”
Obaseki polled 307,955 votes across the 18 local government areas of the state to defeat All Progressives Congress candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who scored 223,619 votes.
The APC conceded defeat at the poll and congratulated Obaseki following a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, describing the outcome of the election as a victory for democracy.
