D’banj has cleared the air about making an inciting statement against Seun Kuti.
Glamtush reports that famous Nigerian singer, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, with the state name, D’banj, has dissociated himself from inciting comments suggesting him taking sides in the fight between his colleagues Seun Kuti and Peter Okoye.
Seun Kuti has been in the news after his altercation with singer, Peter Okoye over Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP).
He had called Obi “an opportunist” to the chagrin of Peter Okoye who had been campaigning for the politician.
D’banj, in a statement signed by his lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi on Sunday, advised the public to disregard what he described as “mischief” of a publication maliciously pushed to drive traffic to gossip blogs and stoke non-existent conflict between him and his well-regarded colleagues in the industry.
According to the statement, ”This is to notify the public that Mr Oladapo Daniel (D’Banj) never made any derogatory or disparaging statement against anybody, especially within the entertainment industry, nor has he directed the publication of any such material on his behalf.”
D’banj said, despite political differences, the entertainment industry in Nigeria should remain as one.
“We may have different political ideologies and express them in our own ways. But the irrefutable truth is that elections will come and go and we will and must remain one big family,” the singer added.
“The general public is thus advised to disregard the mischief of a publication maliciously pushed to drive traffic to gossip blogs and stoke non-existent conflict between my humble self and well-regarded colleagues in the industry.”
