Davido has bagged political appointment.
Glamtush reports that afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has been appointed as Head of Youth Mobilisation for the re-election campaign of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, ahead of the 2026 governorship race.
The singer announced the news on the micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday. He expressed excitement about his new political role within his uncle’s campaign structure.
Davido wrote, “I have been appointed by the Governor of OSUN STATE @AAdeleke_01 and flag bearer of the ACCORD PARTY as HEAD YOUTH MOBILIZATION OF CAMPAIGN COUNCIL!
“We look forward to a smooth campaign and you RE-ELECTION Your Excellency! 4+4.”
Glamtush reports that Davido’s new political position comes as political activities intensify ahead of the August 2026 Osun governorship election, in which Adeleke is seeking a second term.
The singer has always publicly supported his uncle’s political career over the years.
His latest appointment adds to his growing involvement in Osun State politics. In 2025, the singer was also named Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, a role designed to attract investment into sports development in the state.
Davido has consistently used his platform to support his uncle’s political activities, with both figures maintaining visible public alignment during elections and governance programmes.
The Osun State governorship election is scheduled for August 8, 2026, where political parties are already mobilising ahead of the campaign.
Meanwhile, the singer’s appointment is expected to further energise youth engagement in the campaign, especially among his massive young fanbase across Nigeria and the diaspora.
