A close associate has revealed the cause of Alexx Ekubo’s death.
Glamtush reports that details have emerged on how the late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo died. This comes hours after reports of the actor’s death which came as a rude shock to some of his industry colleagues and fans.
Filmmaker Stanley Ontop Speaks on Actor’s Health Battle
Reacting to the public’s questions about the deceased’s sudden death, Nollywood filmmaker Stanley Ontop revealed that Alexx Ekubo had secretly been battling stage 4 liver cancer since 2024.
Speaking in a now-trending post on his Instagram page on Tuesday evening, Stanley, who explained that Alexx underwent a liver transplant, stated that “complications arose after the liver failed again, and his condition deteriorated until his passing.”
Family Requests Privacy Amid Mourning
While urging the public to refrain from spreading unverified claims regarding the cause of the actor’s illness, Stanley Ontop, who is Alexx’s close associate, wrote: “We request that everyone allow Alexx to rest in peace and respect the privacy of his family during this difficult time.
“Alexx was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer in 2024. After undergoing treatment and a liver transplant, he briefly returned to work. Unfortunately, the liver failed again and complications arose, and his condition deteriorated until his passing. His remains have been deposited at the morgue. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.
