BBNaija 5: Five Things To Expect From The Show Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic
Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show will be back with season 5 to our screens on Sunday, July 19. And while fans and viewers around Nigeria are excited to see their favourite show on TV after a nine-month hiatus, we’re sure everyone is wondering how the organisers of BBNaija plan to keep the housemates safe with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that’s currently about town.
MultiChoice Nigeria recently answered important questions about the precautions they will be taking and all the amazing stuff to expect in season five of the show this month.
1. Bigger prize money
The Big Brother Naija show has always operated on a ‘winner takes it all’ format, and this year is no different. Last year, the BBNaija winner, Mercy Eke took home a 30 million Naira prize money, as well as other mouth-watering gifts. This year, we don’t know how much the prize money will be, but MultiChoice has told us to expect something bigger.
2. Ebuka’s fashion
BBNaija is not complete without the show’s host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu. Ebuka always gives us something extra to look forward to at the eviction shows with his unique style that never fails to wow us every single time. So in BBNaija 5, you can expect Ebuka to put his best fashion-forward as he always does.
3. Pre-quarantined housemates
Well, like Ebuka said, the entire Big Brother Naija show is like one big quarantine in itself. The housemates are kept together in one location with minimal to zero contact with outsiders until they are evicted. This setup makes the housemates act in interesting ways, which is what brings the drama to the show.
This year, the housemates are currently being quarantined ahead of the show. This is to ensure that they are all healthy and coronavirus free before they get into the house.
4. Housemates to love and hate
We see it every single year. As the show unfolds, there are always those housemates everyone simply loves, some others that alienate the fans because of their attitude, and of course, there’s the sweet anticipation of guessing who the next BBNaija winner will be!
5. COVID-19 precautions
MultiChoice, the organisers of BBNaija are taking lots of precautions to keep the housemates safe and coronavirus free in season five of the show.
Besides intense health screening and quarantining the housemates before the show, MultiChoice also plans to frequently disinfect the house in the course of the show. They have also said that there will be no live audience at the Sunday eviction show, and that external visitors like visiting celebrities and BBNaija Ninjas will not be featured this year.
Still, you can expect that BBNaija will creatively bring you the best in entertainment despite the restrictions of coronavirus.
