Anita Okoye has formally filed for divorce from her husband, Paul Okoye, over infidelity.
Glamtush reports that Anita Tonye Okoye, wife of Paul Okoye one of the P-Square brothers has formally filed for divorce from her husband.
Infidelity was listed as one of the grounds for the divorce, along with the fact that the singer has shown little interest in the upbringing of their children and rarely participates in their discipline, as seen on bullet points number 16 and 18 of the documents sighted by Glamtush.
The divorce paper was deposed by her attorney, Ojonimi S. Apeh Esq, J.S Okutepa SAN and Company.
In the suit, Anita Okoye accused her husband, Paul Okoye, of ejecting her sister from their home on June 11, 2020, after she learned that he had begun an extramarital relationship with Florence, one of their housekeepers.
The divorce petition, filed in a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja in 2021 by Anita Okoye and seen by the Nigerian newspaper, has the petition number PET/301/2021.
The petition reads, “That I know as a fact that while sending I and petitioner’s sister packing, the Respondent also boasted that the reason for his actions was to ensure that the Petitioner’s wings were clipped and that she had no one else to lean on.
“That I know as a fact that the Respondent has shown minimal interest in the upbringing of the children and rarely participates in discipline of the children.
“That I know as a fact that the Respondent has always been travelling on music tours and is barely at home and does not have time for family life.”
There were also claims that Anita gave her husband the sum of ten million naira (N10,000,000.00) and they had an agreement that she would be granted a portion of land at his company, TannkCo premises to build a mall. It was alleged that Paul failed to honour the agreement after he collected the money.
This online platform learnt that Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) sought to make peace with his estranged wife Anita when the news first surfaced in 2021 but all efforts—even those made by family members—to mediate a settlement have failed.
Remember that when the situation first broke out, family members intervened, including Anita’s mother and her cousin Ekene Nwakuche. However, according to a source who talked to us on the condition of anonymity, “from all indications things have gone extremely bad beyond repair.”
