Nigeria has become the first team to claim nine points after defeating Guinea-Bissau at AFCON 2021.
Glamtush reports that the Super Eagles continued their winning run at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Wednesday with another victory over Guinea-Bissau.
The Eagles took on the Djurtus in their third Group D match at Stade Roumde Adjia in the port city of Garoua, the capital of Cameroon’s northern region.
The Super Eagles failed to score in the first half of the encounter but netted twice after the break.
Umar Sadiq converted a cross from Kelechi Iheanacho before William Troost-Ekong tapped in a loose ball after majestic footwork from Moses Simon.
The result means Nigeria’s 100 percent record in Cameroon remains intact.
They maintained a dominant form to end their group campaign, winning all nine points from three matches – the first team to record such feat in the ongoing tournament.
Recall that Nigeria beat Egypt 1-0 in their first game, before they saw off Sudan 3-1.
