Nollywood actress, Ireti Doyle has released a disclaimer to distance herself from her daughter’s business, Kachi Beauty Products over fraud allegations.
The actress’ daughter, Ngozikachi Abimbola Onyeluo, has allegedly scammed several victims with her empowerment scheme in form of a hair importation business by receiving payment from them without delivering the ordered products.
According to a report by Foundation for Investigative Journalism released in March, the business owes customers over 40 million naira, and has refused to effect refunds despite incessant calls and emails by customers.
Most of the victims of the scheme said they had bought into the business after it was endorsed by the proprietor’s mother, Ireti Doyle.
However, Ireti Doyle took to her Instagram page on Monday to state that she has “zero affiliations” with the business, and was only related to the proprietor of the business as her mother.
She said, “I reiterate and write to inform all parties involved that I was in no way connected to Kachi Beauty Products. I do not, and I have never owned a share, been a director, been on the payroll or received any financial benefits from said business.
“I have zero affiliations with or interest of any nature in Kachi Beauty Products and its board/proprietors. Mrs Abimbola Ngozi Onyeulo (Nee Ozofor) a.k.a Kachi, the 34-year-old founder of said business is one of my biological offspring, and that is the extent of the relationship.”
In an Instagram live chat with Dele Momodu in January, Kachi said she had refunded over 20million naira to over 92 customers. She also promised to make the other refunds to customers so as to retain her integrity.
