Lionel Messi, Paris Saint-Germain new signing is expected to make his debut for the club at the end of this month as he continues his return to full fitness.
According to Sky Sports, Messi, who is continuing to settle into life in France following his shock exit from Barcelona this summer, will play his first game for PSG against Reims on August 29.
The Argentina captain is not yet match-fit to feature for PSG.
PSG coach, Mauricio Pochettino, had admitted that Messi, 34, still has catching up to do on his conditioning as he played for his country at the recently concluded Copa America and had a break after the tournament.
Messi has not undergone a proper pre-season and has missed PSG’s first two games of the new Ligue 1 season.
Speaking at his post-match press conference after PSG’s 4-2 victory over Strasbourg at the weekend, Pochettino said: “As for when we might see Leo [Lionel Messi]; it’s his second day of training after a month since he played the last game at the Copa America.
“We’ll take it step-by-step, get to know each other and have him feel fit and comfortable so that he’s able to make his debut when he is fully fit.”
