President Buhari has nominated the Central Bank of Nigeria (CNB) governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, for a second term. The President has sent the signed letter nominating him to the Senate President in line with the CBN Act on Wednesday.
Emefiele was first appointed in 2014 by the former president, Goodluck Jonathan, and was retained when Buhari came into office in 2015.
If confirmed by the Senate, it would be the first time, since Nigeria returned to democracy in 1999, that a central bank governor would serve more than a term.
