Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian newspapers:

1. There was chaos at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday, as the Department of State Services invaded the assembly, allegedly on the orders of the clerk. In the ensuing melee, the lawmakers forcefully gained entry into the hallowed chamber and declared their support for the Speaker, Mojisola Meranda.

2. The All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party have traded accusations over escalating violence in Osun State, which culminated in the killing of a former chairman of Irewole Local Government Area, Mr. Aderemi Abbas, and six others on Monday. The crisis was triggered by a contentious Court of Appeal ruling allegedly reinstating APC-elected local government chairmen.

3. Billionaire, Aliko Dangote has described his $23bn Dangote Refinery project as the “biggest risk” of his life, acknowledging the challenges he faced in bringing the venture to fruition. In an exclusive interview with Forbes on Monday, Dangote said he is committed to providing a blueprint for industrialisation across Africa.

4. The Lagos State Chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Committee has vowed to stage a mass protest at MTN Nigeria’s headquarters, accusing the telecom giant of failing to reverse its recent data tariff hike fully. In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Abdul-Raheem Abdul-Quadri, and Public Relations Officer, Ridwan Ajayi, NANS JCC Lagos denounced MTN’s claim of reversal, calling it a “deceptive response to our demands.”

5. Residents of the Sedu 2 community in the Ogijo area of Ogun State are calling for an increased security presence, particularly from the Ogun State Police Command, following the discovery of a dismembered body of another woman on Sunday. The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola said an investigation was underway to track down those responsible for the gruesome act, suspected to be a ritual killing.

6. The Imo State Police Command has begun a comprehensive investigation to unravel the cause of a fatal motor accident that occurred on Sunday, at Amala, Ngor-Okpala near Owerri, the state capital. The spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, DSP Henry Okoye, revealed this in a statement on Monday.

7. The leadership of Labour Party (LP) has said it never zoned its presidential ticket to the Southeast ahead of the 2027 general election. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Obiora Ifoh, made the clarification in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

8. Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, says he has ordered a tactical squad to restore peace in Osun State following the political crisis that erupted in the early hours of Monday. Egbetokun also vowed that those who killed and maimed would be brought to book, adding that the force would not tolerate any act of hooliganism, lawlessness and anarchy in the State.

9. Zamfara State government has banned all political gatherings, including rallies, in the state. According to the government, the ban, which affects all political parties and takes immediate effect, was to ensure peace and stability in the state.

10. The Ogun State Police Command on Monday night declared music artiste, Habeeb Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, wanted over alleged violent attacks on officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
