1. Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has dissolved the state executive council comprising his commissioners and sacked the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Muhammad Aliyu-Ubamdoma. The governor announced the decision at a special emergency executive meeting in Government House, Lafia, on Friday.

2. Gunmen suspected to be members of the Lakurawa terrorist group have killed two policemen and rustled over 200 cows from Natsini village in the Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. It was learnt that the incident happened on Thursday at about 11 pm.

3. An accidental discharge by a policeman in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, has killed a nursing mother, Ifeoluwa Adekolu. Information gathered revealed that the incident happened at Oke-Ila Police Station. An eyewitness said the woman was standing across the road opposite the police station when an officer, who had come to the station from another division, fired his gun to rejoice over the news of promotion of one of his colleagues but a stray bullet hit her.

4. The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, says there will be power disruptions in some parts of Abuja due to relocation of the 33KV DC Airport Feeder and 132KV Kukwaba-Apo Transmission Line Towers along the Outer Southern Expressway. A statement on its official X handle said the operation would occur from January 6 to 31.

5. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has denied allegations against him that he converted the resources of Rivers State into his private estate while serving as governor. Wike, who hosted some stakeholders in the state on Friday in Port Harcourt, stated that the allegation, attributed to former Governor Dr. Peter Odili, is false.

6. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has issued an urgent alert to healthcare providers and the general public about a suspected counterfeit cancer drug, Phesgo 600 mg/600 mg/10 ml injection, bearing the batch number C5290S20. This warning follows a report from a doctor at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, who raised concerns about the drug after it was brought in by a patient.

7. The apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has shown excitement about the planned visit of President Bola Tinubu to Enugu State today. Ohanaeze expressed optimism for the release of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu. Tinubu is expected to commission some projects executed by Governor Peter Mbah’s administration during the one-day visit.

8. Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force operating under Sector 3 in Mongunu have intercepted a suspected terrorist courier conveying Improvised Explosive Device-making materials at the entrance to Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State. A statement on Friday by the Chief Military Information Officer of the force, Lt Col Olaniyi Osoba, said the terrorist was arrested on Thursday following a combined effort of the MNJTF and the Civilian Joint Task Force.

9. A wedding in Jigawa State has turned tragic after a bride allegedly poisoned food served at the reception. The incident was said to have left the groom critically ill and one of the wedding guests dead. The incident occurred in the state’s Jahun Local Government Area.

10. The Inspector-General of Police, Dr Kayode Egbetokun, says the force will deal decisively with anyone who assaults or kills a police personnel. Egbetokun made the vow on Friday in Enugu while addressing officers and men of the Police Command in the state during his two-day working visit to the Command.
