Burna Boy has set a new record with his 80,000 capacity sold-out London Stadium performance.

Glamtush reports that Burna Boy, a Grammy-award-winning Nigerian artiste has made history by selling out the prestigious London Stadium. Known for his sensational music and captivating stage presence, Burna Boy has been at the forefront of exporting Afrobeats to a global audience.

In a ground-breaking achievement, Burna Boy has become the first African artist to sell out a stadium in the United Kingdom. A staggering crowd of 80,000 fans flocked to the home of West Ham football club on Saturday, June 3rd, to witness his extraordinary performance.

This historic event not only signifies Burna Boy’s meteoric rise to global stardom but also highlights the rapid ascent of Afrobeats as a genre. The London Stadium concert, which formed part of Burna Boy’s ‘Love, Damini’ World Tour, has been a defining moment for both the artist and the Nigerian music industry as a whole.

Burna performed some of his hit singles to a screaming crowd, alongside unreleased records including his single with JHus from the latter’s highly anticipated album ‘Don’t Say Militancy.’

For fans and stakeholders in the Nigerian music scene, the sold-out London Stadium show represents a significant milestone. Afrobeats has progressed from filling theaters to commanding the iconic O2 Arena, and now, it has reached the pinnacle of success by captivating an entire stadium audience.

During the electrifying performance, Burna Boy treated his fans to an unforgettable repertoire of his greatest hits, including the iconic anthem ‘YE,’ which reverberated throughout the stadium as the crowd joyfully sang along.

Burna Boy’s international breakthrough commenced in 2018 with his single ‘YE,’ a track that caught the attention of global listeners when Kanye West named his album after it. Since then, Burna Boy has emerged as one of the foremost artists spearheading the global expansion of Afrobeats, solidifying his position as one of the biggest music stars worldwide.

Notably, he became the first mainstream Nigerian artist to win a Grammy Award in 2021, receiving the prestigious accolade for his album ‘Twice As Tall.’

Adding to his ever-growing list of accomplishments, Burna Boy recently garnered two Grammy nominations. His chart-topping single ‘Last Last’ was nominated in the Global Song category, while his sixth studio album, ‘Love, Damini,’ received a nomination in the World Album category.

With his awe-inspiring performance at the London Stadium, Burna Boy continues to blaze a trail as the artist leading the charge in the global proliferation of Afrobeats.

His success serves as an inspiration for aspiring musicians and showcases the rich cultural heritage and immense talent emanating from the African music scene. As Burna Boy carries the torch of Afrobeats to new heights, it is evident that this vibrant genre is here to stay, captivating hearts and minds around the world.
