Zainab Aliyu Wrongfully Accused Of Drug Trafficking In Saudi Arabia Released

After much pressure, the Nigerian federal government has finally secured the release of Zainab Aliyu who was wrongfully accused of drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

The permanent secretary in the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs says the government has been able to establish the innocence of Zainab Aliyu.

She was falsely accused of drug peddling in Saudi Arabia and was arrested in December 2018 with Tramadol, a banned substance.

Investigations by the Nigerian government have since revealed that the drug was planted in Zainab’s luggage by a cartel that specialises in planting drugs in the bags of unsuspecting travelers.
