Why Early Education Matters Now More Than Ever

The world around us is changing with incredible speed and innovations are popping up in every field day by day. So, in order to have well-adapted and successful kids, we need to prepare new generations for the future. With AI, smart appliances and gadgets and robotic workers, more and more jobs are getting automated and obsolete, so prepping our children for the changing market and setting them up with a head start is more important than ever. Why and how early education programs are important, find out here.

Early learning: effects on the brain

Brain research shows that kids learn from the second they are born. However, the most fruitful learning years are the first few ones—they have a huge impact on the success kids experience in school. Pleasant and educational experiences kids experience in early childhood make the brain cortex thick and rich with a complicated neuron structure that determines intelligence and behavior later in life. The learning experiences need to be nurturing and caring, so kids who grow up in nurturing households surrounded by fun activities and plenty of languages can have an advantage over their peers with unresponsive care providers.

Benefits of early education

Essentially, early childhood education’s most important role is teaching kids how to socialize and cooperate with other human beings. Another benefit of early learning is that it creates excitement in the child, especially for future learning. It puts an emphasis on education using fun experiences, respect towards others, teamwork and cooperation, patience and concentration and resilience. Children exposed to plenty of early educational opportunities usually exhibit more confidence and stronger motivation.

Why is early education important today?

AI and AI-powered tech is an amazing thing. While some people dread it, the truth is that it will provide future workers with more creative and fulfilling careers. However, in order to use this innovation to the fullest, we need to provide our kids with knowledge that will allow them to flourish in the new world. All kids need to have early education available. In a world that’s highly skill-biased, especially when it comes to technology, kids with lower levels of reading and math skills are at higher risk of being left behind.

So providing kids with plenty of learning sources, from parent-child or educator-child communication to digital media, is very important. While kids can learn from research-based touchscreen experiences, just watching YouTube or Netflix using a touchscreen won’t provide your kid with a rich learning experience. Providing kids with quality learning devices and finding a good playgroup is very important. For instance, the best playgroup in Hong Kong for toddlers exposes kids to various learning opportunities in a safe, stimulating, warm and nurturing environment. This kind of environment will facilitate early learning and allow kids to develop their language, physical and cognitive abilities to the fullest.

Early education and problematic behavior

There will always be an achievement gap present at school, but early childhood education is a crucial tool that will make that gam smaller. For instance, kids that grew up with quality early education have increased childhood literacy, better high school graduation rates, reduced crime rates and reduced risk of teenage pregnancy. On the other hand, children who didn’t receive good early education are more likely to drop out, end up in special education, skip college, get arrested and become teen parents.

Education is an investment

While the words “child care” imply services that meet families’ short-term needs, while “education” implies future investment. Expenses on education today can bring great returns over time. And education also produces public returns, not only personal. People with better education earn more money, but they are also better participants in democracy and less likely to end up in prison or rely on welfare. Also, they make others around them better people and more productive workers.

No one can know what careers of the future will look like, but we can assume they will utilize human creativity and intelligence to the maximum. But, with high-quality early education, you can ensure your kid will have a happy childhood and reach their full potential later in life.
