We Want Victory, But Warm Volgograd Weather Will Favour Nigeria – Iceland Coach, Hadgrimsson

Iceland coach, Heimler Hadgrimsson, says that the warm weather of Volgograd will favour their opponents, the Super Eagles of Nigeria when they clash in their second Group D match of the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup at the Volgograd Arena, today, Friday, June 22, Completesportsnigeria reports.

The outside air temperature in Volgograd is expected to rise above 30 degrees celsius on Friday when the Eagles fight for lifeline three points against World Cup newcomers Iceland.

“The pitch of Volgograd is very good. It’s absolutely dry for obvious reasons, because it’s hot. As soon as it is rains, it will feel better. In general, the conditions are excellent for the game.

“The strength of Nigeria is the players’ good physicality. They are good athletes, and run very well. They also have good counter-attacks. If you look at their matches, you can see how they grew tactically. It’s a team learning fast and improving from training. Their players are playing at the highest level, and of great individual talents.”

Going into Friday’s game, Iceland are third in the Group D table with a point from their draw with Argentina. Nigeria bring up the rear in the group after losing 2-0 to Croatia in their first match in Kaliningrad. Croatian top the group with three points while Argentina, in second position, have one point too as Iceland.
