Virgin, British Airways, Turkish Airlines To Commence Dailly Flight To Nigeria

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has disclosed that British Airways, Turkish Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines and Africa World Airlines (AWA) have received approval to operate daily flights from the Lagos and Abuja international airports.

The development is contained in circular for updated schedule for international flight operations released by NCAA on Friday.

Virgin Atlantic will also now operate daily flights to Lagos.

However, the AWA will operate only in Abuja airport while the AWA X 2 will operate only in Lagos airport.

According to the circular, which was signed by Musa Nuhu, NCAA director-general, RwandAir has received approval to commence commercial flight operations in the country.

RwandAir will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays both in the Lagos and Abuja airports and on Saturdays only in the Lagos airport.

Meanwhile, Air Senegal and Emirates, which were previously included in the September 4 list of international airlines cleared for operations by the NCAA, have now been excluded from the updated list

According to the regulatory body, the updated schedule for international flight operations took effect on Friday.

It said: “You shall ensure that all flight operations are in compliance with all COVID-19 health protocols as issued by the aeronautical and public health authorities”.

NCAA reiterated that the maximum number of passengers for each incoming international flight is 200.

Hadi Sirika, the minister of aviation, announced on Tuesday that Emirates Airline has been given the approval to resume flight operations after the United Arab Emirates government agreed to resume visa issuance to Nigerians.
