Update On Medical Doctor Who Jumped Off Third Mainland Bridge

A medical doctor identified as Orji Sunday allegedly jumped from the Third Mainland Bridge into the lagoon and got drowned. Vanguard gathered that the medical practitioner, who was without a life-jacket, jumped into the lagoon at about 4: 30 pm.

It was gathered that the victim jumped into the lagoon between Adekunle and Adeniji end of the Third Mainland Bridge.

Sources said that before the tragedy, the man had instructed his driver to pack the vehicle that he wanted to discuss confidential issue with a client on phone.
Efforts to speak with the driver of the victim proved abortive after the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), prevented pressmen from gaining access to him. At the scene, officials of the Lagos state Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and officers of the Nigerian Police attached to the Adeniji Police Station, Yaba, were sighted at the scene strategizing on how to recover the body of the victim.

Confirming the tragedy, General Manager LASEMA, Adesina Tiamiyu, narrated that the agency received a distress call  of a man , who  parked his grey coloured Nissan Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) with number plates : LND 476 EE  at about 4.50 pm around Adekunle, inward 3rd Mainland bridge and jumped into the Lagos Lagoon.

According to him, preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that the man said to be medical doctor named Orji ,who was said to be driven by his driver, suddenly ordered the driver to pull over, dropped from the car before  jumping into the water from the bridge. “The vehicle and the driver have been taken to Adeniji Adele Poice Station for further investigation, while effort is on going to recover his body from the Lagoon,” he added
