UNILORIN Resumes Academic Activities Monday

UNILORIN will be resuming academic activities on Monday.

Glamtush reports that the University of Ilorin will reopen its campus on Monday, October 24, to continue its 2021/2022 academic session.

This comes after eight months of absence from classrooms as a result of the strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

This online platform understands that a statement signed by Mr Kunle Akogun, Director of Corporate Affairs of UNILORIN, on Friday said that final year and postgraduate students of the institution will resume lectures on October 24, while other students will return to the school for lectures on December 15.

According to the statement, the resumption of the students followed the ratification of the amended Academic Calendar by the  Senate of the University at its 291st meeting on Friday, October 21, 2022.

It also said that students of the Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, who are yet to complete their Rain Semester examinations before the commencement of the strike on February 14, 2022, will also resume on October 24 to conclude their examinations.

“The University management hereby assures our returning students that adequate measures have been put in place to make the environment very conducive for them while urging them to ensure strict compliance with the rules and regulations of the University,” the statement said.

Recall that the University of Ilorin, a Federal institution was closed following the declaration of an indefinite strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities on February 14, 2022.
