Troost-Ekong To Undergo Minor Surgery

Troost-Ekong will undergo a minor surgery.

Glamtush reports that Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong will undergo minor surgery in Finland this week for an injury he picked up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

This online news platform understands that Troost-Ekong sustained the injury during Nigeria’s second group game against hosts Cote d’Ivoire.

He has now travelled to Finland to undergo surgery to repair a ruptured biceps femoris in his right leg.

The 30-year-old scored the winning goal for the Super Eagles from the spot in the encounter.

The centre-back missed the Super Eagles’ following game against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau.

However, Troost-Ekong played on with the injury, including 120 minutes against South Africa in the semi-final and final game against host  Ivory Coast.

The former Watford player scored three goals for the three-time African champions at the AFCON 2023 finals.

He was duly named Player of the Tournament.

He is expected to return to play for Greek side PAOK towards the end of the season.
