1. President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday declared that the All Progressives Congress is open to receiving the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, into its ranks. Tinubu made the remark while commissioning the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) from Ring Road One (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Road), along with several other roads in the Katampe District of Abuja.

2. The Federal Government on Wednesday released the official programme of events for the 2025 Democracy Day celebration scheduled for Thursday, today. According to a statement by the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Democracy Day, this year’s celebration will begin with a national broadcast by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by 7:00 a.m.

3. The lifespan of the capital vote component of the Federal Government’s 2024 budget is set for extension. Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele gave this hint on Wednesday, saying this is necessary to ensure full implementation.

4. Senator Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North) opened up on what transpired at the boarding gate of Air Peace in Lagos when he arrived to take his flight in the morning. Oshiomhole said that he did not disrupt Air Peace flight operations as alleged by the airline in a statement but decided to fight for Nigerians being ‘extorted’ by the airline through sudden change in time for closing the check-in counter.

5. Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the last general election, Peter Obi, has described the renovation of the International Conference Center (ICC) by the Tinubu administration as misplacement of priorities. Obi accused the current administration of favouring the rich while the poor are dying in droves.

6. At least 15 people have been reportedly killed in separate attacks in villages of Mangu local government area of Plateau state. The chairman of Mangu local government area, Emmanuel Bala, disclosed this to journalists, stating that seven people were killed in Bwai district, while the latest incident occurred in Chinchim community under Mangu district where eight people were killed on Tuesday night.

7. President Bola Tinubu has broken away from the tradition of nationwide broadcast in commemoration of Democracy Day. Earlier, the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Democracy Day had rolled out a series of events to commemorate 26 years of unbroken democracy. But in a statement late Wednesday, the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, announced the cancellation of the nationwide broadcast.

8. No fewer than 42 armed herders and bandits have been arrested in Benue communities in connection with acts of criminality in the state. The state Commissioner of Police, Ifeanyi Emenari, who made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen in Makurdi, said most of the suspects arrested in the last one month had been charged to court.

9. Five persons lost their lives on Wednesday, while nine others sustained injuries in multiple road accidents along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The Public Education Officer of the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, disclosed this in a statement in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

10. A fuel station at Obawole in the Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government area, Lagos State, was, on Wednesday, razed by fire. The fuel station is at the old Akute road, Obawole, Iju Ishaga, Lagos. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed the incident.
