1. Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike declared last night that he had no apologies to offer any one for threatening to put fire in any Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) controlled state undermining his position in the party. Wike, speaking on Channel TV, also vowed that nothing would ever make him support his estranged political godson and successor as Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, again.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has arrested a wanted drug baron, Alhaji Suleiman Ganiu Aremu (a.k.a Barryshine) two years after coming under its radar over his alleged role in four foiled attempts to export cocaine to Saudi Arabia and Qatar through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja, Lagos, between 2022 and 2024.
3. The Federal Government has declared Monday, 16th September, 2024 as Public Holiday to mark the celebration of the Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
4. A notorious bandit identified as Kachallah Buzu has been gunned down in Zamfara State. Buzu was killed in a massive military operation in Zamfara, where bandits have wreaked havoc.
5. An early morning accident along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway claimed 21 lives, on Thursday. It was gathered on Friday that the accident involved a trailer truck and a passenger Hummer bus heading for Kano and Batsari town in Katsina State.
6. Oil marketers have confirmed that they will start lifting Premium Motor Spirit (petrol), from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery next week. While some revealed that they had started sending trucks to the Lagos-based multi-billion dollar plant to load products from Sunday, others stated that their tankers would hit the refinery any day from next week.
7. Former governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has said Nigeria is in a crisis with 38 million people on the verge of extreme hunger. Obi berated the President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress administration for engaging in wasteful spending which, according to him, had further worsened the living conditions of Nigerians.
8. As Nigeria continues to grapple with the aftermath of devastating floods in Maiduguri, Borno State, and other parts of the country, the Federal Government has issued an urgent warning about impending flooding along the Niger and Benue rivers. The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, issued the alert in Abuja on Friday during a press briefing on the flooding situation in Maiduguri.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has been summoned by a Magistrate’s Court in Abuja for allegedly making a false statement on his date of birth. A document that emerged on Friday showed that Okpebholo was asked to appear before the court at 12 noon on September 20 by Magistrate Abubakar Mukhtar.
10. The Kogi State Police Command has paraded four suspects linked to the death of Damilola Olowoyo, a 19-year-old first-year student at the Federal University, Lokoja. The suspects, Jeremiah Paul, Emmanuel Otitoju, Banabas Olugbenga, and Ajayi Ayomide, were presented at the police headquarters in Lokoja on Friday.
