1. The Federal Government has approved an upward review of the fees for the Nigerian Passport effective from 1st September 2024. The spokesman of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), DCI Kenneth Udo, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, adding that the move was part of the efforts to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.

2. Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, hosted a delegation led by former Kaduna State governor, Nasiru El-Rufai at his Asokoro residence in Abuja. In a statement, AbdulRasheed Shehu, Special Assistant to the former vice president, said the visit was to formally request the hand of Atiku’s daughter, Hafsat Atiku Abubakar, in marriage to the family of Kashim Imam.

3. Four persons, two women and two children, died when their engine boat capsized on the Benue River in Taraba State. The victims were traveling from Mayoreneyo town in Ardo-Kola LGA to Belengo town in Karim-Lamido when the boat capsized.

4. The District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State, Isa Muhammad Bawa, who was abducted alongside his son and brother 25 days ago, has reportedly died in captivity. Multiple sources confirmed the development to journalists on Wednesday.

5. Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has declared the Park and Pay scheme in the nation’s capital as illegal. Wike made the declaration during a live media parley with select journalists in Abuja, on Wednesday.

6. Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Iliya Damagum, has said he is being pushed to the wall, warning that if he opens his mouth, it will not be pleasant. Speaking at the inauguration of the party’s reconciliation and disciplinary committees in Abuja, on Wednesday, Damagum also warned members to stop speaking ill of the party.

7. The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is reducing its importation of crude from the United States, taking more of Nigeria’s oil for processing, a report by Bloomberg said. The report stated that the 650,000 refinery is set to import just over four-fifths of its feedstock from domestic sources in the third quarter. That compares with less than three-quarters in the prior quarter, according to tanker-tracking data and information from traders.

8. The Chief Magistrate of the Iyaganku Family Court in Ibadan Oyo State, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a tenant, Kareem Mojeed, for allegedly defiling his landlord’s seven-year-old daughter. The court ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

9. Some youths in Lagos State thwarted an attempted kidnap of a car dealer on Ebute Igbogbo Road in Ikorodu Local Government Area on Tuesday. It was learnt that the suspects, including Taiwo Olayinka, Azeez Sodiq, and Saheed Moonstruck, have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.

10. The Kano State Police Command, on Wednesday, said that it had recorded a significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat crime in the state by arresting 41 suspects and recovering dangerous weapons in the state.
