1. The 125,000 barrels per day Warri Refining and Petrochemicals Company, WRPC, has commenced operations. Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, disclosed this during a tour of the facility on Monday.

2. Barring any last-minute change of plan, councils will begin to get direct allocation from the Federation Account next month. It will begin with the disbursement of this month’s allocation to the three tiers of government, a source said on Monday.

3. The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has strongly condemned the military bomb attack on the Silame Community in Sokoto State, which resulted in the deaths of 10 persons and injured several others. The forum also called for a probe into the attack and equal compensation of the victims.

The Police Command in Anambra has launched a manhunt for yet-to-be-identified assailants who on Monday attacked and killed security operatives and unarmed civilians in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra. The command Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.

7. The Police in Jigawa State say a mother and her two children escaped death on Monday when a vehicle rammed into their living room in Dutse. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state , DSP Lawan Shiisu, said in a statement in Dutse that the incident occurred at about 12 midnight.

8. President Bola Tinubu has consented to a proposal to establish a federal university in Southern Kaduna. Vice President Kashim Shettima revealed this “at the weekend during a condolence visit to the Kukah family on the death of Yohanna Kukah, the Agwom Akulu of Ikulu Chiefdom,” the VP’s spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, revealed in a statement Monday.

9. The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Ikeja said it intercepted about seven trucks carrying over 2,000 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice in a single operation. This came as the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, announced that through intelligence-led operations, the service intercepted several arms shipments, including 844 rifles and 112,500 rounds of live ammunition in Onne Seaport.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has okayed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, application to freeze 24 bank accounts domiciled in different banks over allegations bordering on terrorism financing. Justice Emeka Nwite, who granted the application after EFCC’s lawyer, Martha Babatunde, moved an ex-parte motion to the effect, gave the commission the go-ahead to freeze the accounts for 90 days pending the conclusion of investigations.
