1. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has threatened to order the arrest of Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele to appear before the committee investigating the old naira notes withdrawal. Gbajabiamila said this on Thursday after the Majority Leader of the House, Ado Doguwa informed him that Emefiele and others shunned the invitation to a meeting on Wednesday.
2. Hoodlums, together with some underage Almajiris’ in Katsina State metropolis, on Thursday, took to the street throwing stones immediately after President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned the newly constructed underpass bridge along Kofar Kaura Road. The hoodlums, while chanting ‘we are not interested’ in Hausa, were also seen throwing stones at the site of the project, an eyewitness told DAILY POST.

A coalition of Civil Society Organisations operating under the aegis of Civil Society Coalition for Economic Well-being and Good Governance, on Thursday issued a 78-hour ultimatum to President Muhammadu Buhari to end fuel scarcity or face mass protest. This was contained in a communique issued by the Coalition after a one-day meeting on Wednesday and made available to journalists on Thursday in Abuja.
4. The Federal Government has disclosed that 309 Nigerians applied to renounce their citizenship through the Ministry of Interior. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Shuaib Belgore, gave the disclosure on Thursday, alongside his Minister, Rauf Aregbesola, while featuring at the 64th edition of the State House briefings coordinated by the Presidential Media Team, in Abuja.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, SAN, on Thursday, restated that President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to the conduct of credible, free, fair and widely acceptable general elections. Malami disclosed this at a conference organised by the National Association of Judiciary Correspondents, NAJUC, Abuja chapter.
6. The New Nigerian Peoples Party, on Thursday, accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of refusing to replace candidates who defected from the party to other platforms. The party lamented that despite orders of the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court in Abuja directing INEC to accept the names of the fresh candidates submitted to it to replace those that withdrew their candidature and resigned from the party, the commission has refused to obey the order, one month to the elections.

A Federal High Court (FHC) in Abuja on Thursday struck out a suit seeking to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept and publish the name of Mr Akanimo Udofia as governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the March 11 election in Akwa Ibom. Justice Emeka Nwite, in a judgment, held that the court lacked jurisdiction to decide the matter after it had been adjudicated upon by a court of coordinate jurisdiction and an Appeal Court.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu on Thursday said his counterpart from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar’s attempt to blackmail him would fail. Tinubu was reacting to a response from Atiku’s camp to his remark on fuel scarcity and the redesigned naira notes in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
