1. There was heavy security deployment at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal and other flash points and dark spots in Abuja on Tuesday ahead of the delivery of the judgment on the election petitions challenging the election of President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday (today). The tribunal is expected to deliver judgement on the petition filed by the Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi and his counterpart, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

2. The strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, to protest the failure of the Federal Government to provide palliatives following the fuel subsidy removal grounded economic and commercial activities in several states on Tuesday. Power holding companies and other sectors of the economy were shut down.

3. The Department of State Services, DSS, has arrested some officials of the Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency and their accomplices for allegedly diverting palliatives meant for vulnerable citizens. A statement on Tuesday by the DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, stated that the service recovered some of the items after an investigation into the matter.

4. Justice Usman Mallam Na’abba of the Kano State High Court, on Tuesday, set aside the suspension of a former Governor of Kano State and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, in the 2023 election, Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Kwankwaso was earlier expelled from the party over “failure to appear before a Disciplinary Committee.”

5. The Federal Government on Tuesday said President Bola Tinubu inherited a battered economy but changed the narrative within his 100 days in office. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mallam Mohammed Idris, said this in a statement issued in Abuja.

6. Former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday said democracy in the country is not working despite the end of the military administration in 1999. This is as Fayemi said the protest that trailed the fuel subsidy removal during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2012 was due to political interests.

7. The Kogi East Senatorial Election Tribunal sitting in Lokoja has sacked Senator Jibrin Isah, (Echocho), the Senate Committee Chairman on Customs Excise and Tariffs. Consequently, the chairman of the Tribunal , Justice K.A. Orjiako, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a supplementary election in 94 polling units in the district.

8. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday said all barriers to investment would be dismantled by his administration to rekindle confidence in Nigeria’s economy. President Tinubu gave the assurance in New Delhi, India, during his meeting with the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hinduja Group of Companies, Mr. Prakash Hinduja.

9. Those who lost out as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy are determined to frustrate government policies and programmes, Vice President Kashim Shettima has said. Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja, Shettima restated the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration’s commitment to its decisions, policies and programmes.

10. The Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, on Tuesday, paraded three personnel of a security outfit, Gallantry Intelligence Corps of Nigeria, at the Isolo area of Lagos State. The Commander, NNS Beecroft, Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga, while parading the suspects, said they were arrested after receiving reports of their alleged fraudulent activities.
