1. President Bola Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the management of three agencies under the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy. In a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, on Thursday in Abuja, the President approved the appointments.

2. Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, on Thursday, begged Nigerians to be patient, as the management of the apex bank is doing everything possible to ensure that the Naira is strengthened. Cardoso said this at a public lecture organised by the Nigerian Economic Society, NES, at the CBN Centre of Excellence Hall, University of Ibadan.

3. Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo was yesterday elected as governorship candidate for the November 12 poll. But, as at press time, the collation of results for the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary has not started.

4. The ancient town of Owo in Ondo State will today host eminent Nigerians for the final funeral rites for former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. The body of the former Nigerian Bar Association, NBA president will be interred after the funeral service at St. Andrew Anglican Church, Imola, Owo.

5. A ban may be slammed on exportation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), otherwise known as cooking gas, the Federal Government hinted on Thursday. This is part of measures to reduce cooking gas price and support domestic users. Minister of State (Gas Resources), Ekperikpe Ekpo, yesterday said the government has initiated a bouquet of measures to improve domestic gas supply and remove the disequilibrium that has fueled rising cooking gas prices in recent periods.

6. Oyo State governor and Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF, Seyi Makinde, has said it is not true that the Federal Government gave each state N30 billion outside their statutory revenue allocations to address the current food insecurity challenges. The governor was reacting yesterday to a claim by Senate President Godswill Akpabio that each state of the federation got additional N30 billion to address the economic challenges facing the country.

7. The Southeast will soon have an intervention agency to fast-track the development of the region. This is as a bill seeking for the establishment of the Southeast Development Commission, SEDC, was passed by the Senate on Thursday.

8. The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and the LP caucus in the House of Representatives have faulted the manner the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, was arrested in Edo State, describing it as ‘distasteful, cruel, dehumanising and abuse of democratic ethos’.

9. The Rivers State Police Command has said an Inspector was killed by gunmen who ambushed and attacked its men on a stop-and-search duty at the Eliozu flyover in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday night. Spokesperson for the state police command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.

10. The National Working Committee, NWC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Thursday condoled the Plateau chapter of the party over the murder of Sylvanus Namang, state publicity secretary. Namang was shot dead on Saturday night at a provision store in Pankshin. He was killed along with the owner of the store, Sunday Okonkwo.
