Tinubu Withdraws Nomination Of Imam Kashim As FERMA Board Chairman

Tinubu has withdrawn the nomination of Imam Kashim as FERMA board chairman.

Glamtush reports that President Bola Tinubu on Thursday directed the withdrawal of the nomination of 24-year-old Imam Kashim Imam, whom he recently appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency.

The decision was announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement he signed on Thursday titled ‘President Tinubu directs withdrawal of FERMA chairmanship nomination.’

Recall that 24-year-old Imam was on October 13 appointed by the President “for a renewable term of four (4) years, in accordance with Section 2(3) of the FERMA Amendment Act, 2007”.

And there had been a backlash on the Federal Government for appointing Imam, with many saying he lacked the requisite experience for the job.

Following the uproar, presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, said Thursday that the withdrawal of the nomination is with immediate effect.

Although no reason was given by the presidency for the decision, Ngelale said all other appointments to the Board and Executive Management team of FERMA are not affected by this directive.
