Tinubu will address Nigerians on her 65th Independence Day at 7a.m. on Wednesday.

Glamtush reports that President Bola Tinubu will address the nation at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day anniversary.

This was announced in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday.

The statement is titled, “2025 Independence Anniversary: President Tinubu Addresses The Nation.”

The statement added, “All television, radio stations, and other electronic media outlets are urged to join the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria for the broadcast.”

This will be Tinubu’s third Independence Day address to the nation since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

The presidential address is part of the activities scheduled by the Federal Governnment for Nigeria’s 65th indepence anniversary.

Federal Government said the theme indicates the need for unity, collaboration, and patriotism among government institutions, the private sector, civil society, and citizens to advance national peace, prosperity, and progress.

It said the choice of theme reflected Nigeria’s resilience since independence in 1960, stressing the importance of consolidating past achievements while pursuing loftier goals under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Independence Day speeches have traditionally provided Nigerian presidents with an opportunity to review the state of the nation, highlight achievements, outline policy directions, and reassure citizens of the government’s commitment to national unity.

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, gained independence from Britain on October 1, 1960, and has since marked the date annually with official ceremonies, presidential speeches, and parades.
